Do You Want To Know About Our Trip?

Some of us still don’t believe that we are in Puerto Rico, even while standing in the lava sand with the ocean breeze refreshing our tired eyes. It has truly been a blessing to travel along side each other learning each others favorite stories and middle names! Running through Chicago with 14 people and luggage was an amazing experience but not one that should be repeated again so soon. On the plane Keegan wore his old neck brace for comfort  and Ty talked in his sleep this made the plane experience so much better. We arrived to Camp Caribe around 8 in the morning and to our surprise Jon Marshall gifted us with a free day! Now what is a free day you ask? This is a day in which we were able to rest from travel, swim in the ocean, and make a quick run to Wal-mart. Many of us ate delicious food and took well deserved naps. Others had so much adrenaline that hunting for iguanas seemed more appropriate.

There were the creative souls that decided that sea shells would make for fantastic bracelets and gifts to loved one. In all, our first day was pure “paradiso” and it was great to be able to have a full day devoted to falling in love with Puerto Rico, the team, and God.

We are thankful  for this day of rest before we get to work hard on our service project. We cannot say how excited we are to get to work and have more fun every day. Now excuse me as I run over and join my team in their game of “signs”! So much good stuff to come! (ps. everyone is safe and happy...and wearing sunblock)

Love, Karen (By the way, we have a nice breeze here)

  2. I am so happy to read your posts this Sunday morning! Did you "spring ahead" there like we did here?? That doesn't help the lack-of-sleep issues, but hopefully you will be all rested up as you start your projects tomorrow morning! When people ask me at church today where my husband is, I will say, "he's suffering for Jesus in Puerto Rico!" Seriously, your greatest joy will come as you serve each other and God's people in PR and at the camp. What a beautiful place to do so! I will be praying for you this week, that each of you will allow the LORD to teach you His ways so you can walk in His truth and unite your heart to fear His name. Psa. 86:11 - Blessings, Mama Chris
