HOLA!!! Deja here just giving all
you parents, friends and fans out there the lowdown on the adventures of the
#PRChicas2016, day siete!
Today
we got to sleep in a little longer than usual, given our late night heart to
heart. None the less, 7 am seemed to come rolling around the corner a lot
faster than expected, and with the sound of the alarm came Jenna and Emily’s
sweet, soft, wake up call. We hurried out of bed and made our way to the
cafeteria where we enjoyed building our own breakfast sandwiches! After our
bellies were full we headed off to the camp fire pit for a quick devo and then
it was off to work, and man let me tell you there was a lot of work to be done.
To
start the day off we had to continue our struggles putting up electricity in
the last three rooms of the renovation. Here’s the catch, our goal was to get
all of the rooms done with electrical work by lunch. For the record ladies and
gentlemen, we have a group of straight beasts!! (But, I mean what else would
you expect with a group of 11 strong, beautiful women with God on their side,
of course we are going to be beast haha). Well, not only did we get all of the
electrical work done that could be done, we set up for after lunch, gave out
jobs and directions for each person, and still had 20 minutes to spare!! This
meant… walking along the beach with the light waves softly crashing against
your feet, while on the hunt for the prettiest piece of sea glass, shells or
rock. After this we ran off to a much needed lunch of pork, fried plantains,
and corn on the cob! Once our bodies were fueled and ready to go we hurried off
back to work. This time to start PAINT!!!
Once
again we had a huge task at hand that needed to be accomplish before the end o
the day, and with our whole group being led by our very own wonderful,
fearless, humble, Kaley, we went far beyond our goal!! By the end of the day we
had 6 ceilings painted, and three of the rooms colors painted with two coats!!
Needless to say, the challenge was accepted and completely destroyed. After our
work day ended around 5, we cleaned up our area to prepare for tomorrow, I
somehow managed to step on a rusty old rake, and got a nice bloody hole in my
foot, which leaves me crippled and using crutches (good thing I got a tetanus shot haha). Once
we were finished we headed over to dinner, which was composed of chicken
alfredo, and a mouth watering side salad. After dinner we had a quick hour to
wash up, call home, and then off to youth group we went. We worshipped to
familiar tones such as Mighty to Save, and Everlasting, sung in Spanish. We
received a great message about the importance of communion and fellowship with
both Christians and none Christians. After youth group it was a quick meeting
as a group, and then off to bed so that we can wake up and conquer tomorrow.
In
short for all who read, God has brought this wonderful group of amazing women
through a whole week of the Puerto Rico Missions trip. In that time we have
laughed sang, cried ate, played, loved, and grown. We are all still alive,
breathing, and serving the Lord with our work, and I can’t wait to see what all
God has left in store for our wonderful group!!
Much much love from your chicas
down south ;)
Deja!
Oh no Deja! (Jenna, I warned ya eh? Emily, remember Karen last year?) I hope you heal quickly!
ReplyDeleteWay to work hard ladies! It is so good to hear it's hard to wake up in the morning, it means you are putting your best effort forward and relying on Jesus for strength!
PS-I totally get your "mouth watering salad" :)
Blessings ladies!!
