Yo, yo, yo, what up!
Today was our second day of hard work at Camp Caribe. We started out our day with an awesome testimony from Kayla, another missionary to the beautiful country of Puerto Rico. She runs an after-school program in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Puerto Rico, the barrio, but still had amazing joy and passion for the people.
After a yummy breakfast we got to work, and let me tell you, it was HOT! Our usual ocean breeze was sorrowfully absent today as we shoveled concrete, cut rebar, painted walls, put up molds to put the concrete in, and sweated non-stop. Shenanigans were still in abundance though, as new nicknames were given, butts were concreted, ears were painted, an underdogs were given on the local swing set.
After our long hot day we decided to go on a group swim in the nearby Caribbean Ocean. Not long after our entrance (some by force), we were assaulted by a flapping flock of flying fish! Many took blows to the face, and few were able to escape without taking damage. One poor eye witness described as “it was like you all were being slowly killed, and you were laughing about it... do you know how hard that was for me?” (*cough* Andri *cough*).
All in all, our experience in Puerto Rico has been awesome, and we pray it will continue to be so. As of yet, there have been no casualties, just spilled paint. Thanks for all your prayers and support!

Thanks for the entertaining stories... I'm glad you survived the bird attack! It must be hard to adjust to that stifling heat....we were walking around without coats today because it was 48°! Keep up the good work. :) Rose Angela (Laura's mom)
