Sunday Adventure

Without a scrap of food in our bellies, we left Camp Caribe at 6:30 in the morning! Our day started with much activity, as we made our way up a mountain to raise our homemade Spring Arbor University flag. There was much rejoicing at the top of the mountain, but as we descended, terror arose. Once we had regrouped at the van, our suspicions were confirmed that a member of our team was MIA! Not to worry! Soon enough, our friend, Taylor, was reunited with us.

While a small group did the searching and waiting, the majority of the team went to church in Juana Diaz. The church was bilingual and, although we were all so sleepy, we made it through the AMAZING service and got to interact with the Puerto Rican people by playing basketball and holding their children!

After finishing some great fellowship, our whole group was reunited back at camp for lunch. Then we piled into the van and headed for the waterfall in the rainforest! The rocks were super slippery, but the view was spectacular! We took our turns jumping from 22-foot and 30-foot cliffs and plunging into freezing water! Everyone stretched their limits as they plummeted from such great heights! As we hiked along the river, the team got to experience God’s creation in a whole new way!

When the rumbling of our stomach overpowered our need to jump, we piled into the van SOAKING WET and headed to Starlight where we had a delicious, authentic, Puerto Rican meal. We ordered highly-recommended dishes and passed them around like a real family! Once we had completely pillaged the restaurant, it was time to head back.

Arriving at camp was a welcomed moment because everyone was exhausted from such a busy day. We were able to relax and reflect on all the adventures from the day.

Thanks for your prayer and support!
